Lake Gogebic Ice conditions have improved. With temps at zero the slush has frozen and will allow ATV travel in most area’s. Foot travel is much easier and as always, a snowmobile will get you anywhere you need to go. Fishing has slowed a bit with cold temps, but should rebound quickly with snow in the forecast and milder temps. Walleye action has been best jigging in 6 to 8ft. Best of Luck and Happy New Year!!!

Lake Gogebic fishermen have come alive after all the below zero temps. Today’s mild temps have not only brought out the fishermen, but increased water and slush on the ice. Reports of a few ATV’s, but snowmobile or foot travel is best. Mild temps will decrease the snow pack and will firm up again as cooler temps arrive tomorrow. Walleye action has been good at dawn and dusk using both jigging rapalas or spoons and tip ups with a sucker minnow. Northern Pike will give some activity during the day. Concentrate on the 6-12 flats around weeds, even throughout the night expect action. Only a few Perch reported, but this will pick up soon as anglers begin to target them during the day.

Lake Gogebic fishing has been stable through al this below zero temps. The few anglers raving the cold continue to do well on Walleyes using sucker minnow on tip ups or jigging baits near weeds or weed edges during low light conditions. Concentrate from 6-14ftt depths. Ice conditions vary depending on location. Recent heavy snows have caused slush in most areas, restricting travel to snowmobile or foot. Always check locally for conditions. Black Powder season came to a close this past Sunday with little hunting pressure but good deer movement with the migration underway due to all the recent snow. Those last minute archers still have until Jan.1st to fill that final tag. Best of luck, in the woods and on the water.

Lake Gogebic fishing has been HOT!!! First ice is here to stay. Excellent action has been seen morning and evening in the shallow bays. Use a jigging Rapala or spoom tipped with bait. Remember this report does not guarantee ice safety conditions. Please check locally about the ara you plan to fish before heading out on any ice. Have fun and be SAFE.

Lake Gogebic’s activity has been very quite as we are between seasons. Much of the lake has ice cover mostly in the bays, however a large portion of the main lake remains open. Don’t expect any safe ice fishing just yet. We have seen some below zero temps, but recent 30 degree days, has not produced much ice. Deer activity has been fair, but hunter numbers are low. The deer rifle season ends Nov.30th with the next muzzleloading season being Dec.5th to the 14th. These hunters should expect good snow cover and deer movements as long as this winter weather continues. Have a Happy Turkey Day and be safe.

Lake Gogebic fishing continues to be great however, ice is begining to form in the bays and near shoreline area’s. still plenty of area to find open shoreline to fish, but conditions can change quickly this time of year. Deer hunters have been few and activity has slowed. Another front came through with more snow which bedded some of the deer up. Expect little hunter pressure for the rest of the rifle season which runs until Nov. 30th. Best of luck in the wood and on the water

Lake Gogebic fishing has been great!!! Shore anglers are doing excellent using sucker minnows after dark. Expect nice fish this time of year, 2-4lbs are not uncommon, a nice bonus for those U.P. hunters after a good day in the woods. Hunting conditions have been excellent! Temps range from 20to 30 degrees with light snow cover the eve of the opener on sat., Nov. 15th. This was a welcome sight for the hunters as rain had melted much of the snow earlier in the week. Very good hunting reports came alomg with the perfect snowy weather. Deer activity was good with bucks still chasing does. Best of luck to all.

Lake Gogebic fishing pressure has been extremely light. Only a few shore and dock anglers mostly. Sucker minnows or crankbaits will continue to produce well near shorelines in shallow water until ice up. Hunting activity has also been light with most preparing for the Nov. 15th Gun Deer season opener which runs until Nov.30th. Hunters will be happy to here we received 6”-8” of snow Sunday!!!
