FISHING REPORTS:

Lake Gogebic report is fair at best. East winds seemed to prevail most every day! For most it was a tough week of fishing. Of course there were some good catches mixed in. Smallmouth are still providing the most steady action working baits in 7 to 12 feet on the rocks. Weed growth is coming in providing perch and walleye action in 6 to 10 feet using crawlers and leeches. Many are trolling crawlers and stick baits over the mud with mixed reports. Some continue to use minnows, but mostly at night. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic report overall is tough! Anglers are using multiple methods to search for Walleye. Drifting jigs and minnows , trolling crawlers, trolling stick baits for suspended fish, jigs tipped with leeches. All are picking up some fish, but nothing consistant. Shore anglers continue to get a fair bite using minnows at dark and smallmouth continue to provide on and off action in 5ft. to 8ft. as they move in and out due to weather patterns.Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic fishing and weather has improved. Walleyes are hitting leeches and minnows in 7 to 10ft. mainly low light conditions. Others are working 16 to 20 ft. depths. Northern Pike action has been good. Smallmouth are beginning to stage and may start to move up to the beds with more normal milder temps in the forecast. We have seen some very nice smallies coming in already. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic fishing has been tough! Anglers are struggling on the walleye bite. Extreme weather and wind direction changes daily have the lake and fish stirred up! Minnows are still providing the best action, with most anglers drifting or trolling various depths trying to locate fish. Northern pike and smallmouth continue to provide the best action. Shore anglers are reporting the best results in the evening and night time bite for walleye. Best of luck ! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic opener was bitter sweet. An evening cold front turned into a sunny 65 degrees in the afternoon but the fishing has been tough overall. The bite has mainly been on minnows with a few using leeches. Most anglers are drifting over 16ft. to 20ft. depths due to the fish being scattered. Northern Pike have been about the most active with some good Smallmouth activity as well (Catch and release). Walleye reports have been up and down with success mostly shorts with a few nice fish in the mix. Shore anglers using minnows during the night have reported some good catches. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic ice out! Friday April 26th strong northwest winds ate up the ice very quickly. Only a few floating chunks remain. Snow cover is gone with only a few shaded areas and snow piles remaining. Cold temps remain with a chance of snow once again! See you at the May 15th Walleye opener. Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic report has changed rapidly!! Heavy rains have lifted the ice to extremely high levels and ice has pulled away from shorelines . The temps are only in the high thirties but rain will soften the ice quickly. Stay off!!! Will update when main lake ice breaks up for all of those anxiously looking forward to the May 15th opener. See you then. Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic remains locked up pretty tight. Last week we received about 6 inches of heavy wet snow which has now melted down making surface conditions a bit sloppy. Surface water is draining off with continued mild days and cooler nights. Use caution near shoreline inlets but overall conditions are very good for this late in the season. Very light fishing activity. Check locally before heading out as conditions can change overnight at this time of year. Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic reports good perch action from anglers working 22ft. to 26ft. depths using wigglers and spikes. Travel conditions are ever changing. ATV`s and snowmobiles are still active on the ice. Cool nights are making for good morning travel with mild temps later in the day making it a bit soft for the wheeled machines. Colder temps and more snow are forecast for later this week. Rain and runoff are breaking away some of the shoreline so be careful near any inlets. Reports are from anglers and activity on the lake and are not a guarantee of safe travel. Lake Gogebic report has improved. Most of the snow has left the ice surface. There are areas that will still see slush near shorelines and areas that not all the snow is gone yet. Overall mostly bare ice with some anglers using atv`s once again and of course snowmobiles. Current mild days and lows in the teens at night are making travel good in the mornings and softer conditions later in the day. Very few anglers have been out but those few have had good perch reports. Remember reports are of angler activity only, not ice safety. It is late ice season and conditions can change overnight so be safe and always check locally wherever you are heading out. Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic report is both good and bad. Those few fishermen that are braving the conditions are doing well on Perch working wigglers and spikes in 23ft. to 29ft. with good reports. A few walleye anglers are giving it one last try today as gamefish season closes today 3-15-19. Conditions are the bad side. Reports are about 2 feet of compacted snow on the ice with slush below. Recent rain and warm temps have increased the slush problem. It has cooled off today making it a bit better travel. Snowmobile reports are ok if you stay on the packed travel routes but travel can be difficult when leaving these areas. Make sure you pack down the area with your snowmobile before stopping to fish as that is when anglers report getting stuck in the slush. Good luck and be safe as we near the end of the ice season. Lake Gogebic report has been fair despite the weather. Very few anglers have been out mainly due to storms that once again have dumped feet of snow in our area. Those getting out in between those fronts have fair to good reports. Walleye anglers continue to work 8ft. to 12ft. depths during low light conditions with others sticking to the 24ft. to 28ft. areas and are reporting fair results. Perch anglers working the mud anywhere from 22ft. out to 29ft. having fair to good reports with on again off again action. Some are marking good numbers of fish but not catching on some days but overall it is looking good. Now for lake conditions, expect deep snow and drifting with some areas being worse than others throughout the lake. Reports of 6 to 10 inches of slush at the ice surface and this will get worse with the added snowfall, again some areas will be better than others. Pack a trail down with your snowmobile before parking your shack. Angler reports are that the snowmobiles are staying on top of the snow with the slush just at the ice surface in most areas. Be careful and good luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic reports not many anglers have been out this past week so only a few reports that are fair for both perch and walleye. Most have been still working the deep water in 24ft. to30ft. for both Perch and Walleye using wigglers, spikes and sucker minnows. Weather has contributed to less activity on the ice. With snowfall measured in feet not inches over the past week or so watch out for heavy drifting and ice heaves. The heavy snow may also begin to cause areas of slush as well so be carefull. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic fishing report has been fair overall this week. Milder temps brought out anglers and some fish as well. Both Perch and Walleyes have been hitting with reports of marking lots of fish but not all are hitting. Walleye anglers are working 10ft. to 15ft. with best success during low light periods with others getting fish in 24ft. to 31ft. Perch anglers are working 21ft. to 28ft. with the same reports. Lots of recent snow with more in the forecast so snowmobile is recommended. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic report has been slow this week mainly due to bitter cold temps. Fishing was fair up to that point but angler activity and reports have been low. Temps are rising with a warm weekend predicted so fishing may warm up as well. Lake conditions are good with heavy snow in the past week which will make travel by snowmobile only. Best of luck! Lake Gogebic report has not changed much. Mild temps and not much recent snow has once again allowed ATV travel in some areas, however snowmobile is recommended. Overall ice conditions and travel remain good. We have seen light angler activity, but good reports continue to come in. Walleye anglers are working jigs and tip ups with minnows in 12ft. to 16ft. and also in 24ft. to 28ft. Perch reports have been excellent for some with others marking lots of fish but not catching the finicky biters. Wigglers ,spikes and waxies worked in 23ft. to 29ft. has been the norm. best of luck Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic fishing has been fair to good. Walleyes continue to hit sucker minnows on tip ups and jigging spoons and rapalas in 10ft. to 15ft. Reports are on and off with one day excellent and the next day not? Others are getting fish in 24ft. to 28ft. depths. Perch action has picked up with some nice catches coming in. Anglers are working 22ft. to 28ft. depths using wigglers, spikes, and waxies on small ice jigs or small jigging raps and spoons. Ice conditions are good with snowmobile and some ATV travel in most parts of the lake. Weekend temps are going to be warmer so expect some slush in areas that may make ATV travel tough. Best of luck! Lake Gogebic ice fishing is off to a good start. Early ice and little snowfall have made for some good conditions. Early ice anglers have been targeting walleye in the bays for some time now using sucker minnows with good success. Anglers are still working the same areas in 8 to 12 feet using tip ups and jigs. Others are moving deeper fishing 21 to 26ft. with good success. Not many reports on Perch just yet as anglers are just starting to work the deeper areas of the lake with wigglers and spikes. Expect ice thickness to vary from 4 to 12 inches with light snow cover allowing both snowmobiles and ATV`s to travel about. Reminder that reports are on angler activity and do not guarantee ice safety. Best of luck to all! Have a happy and safe holiday. Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic has seen very few anglers out on the water. Mostly shore fishermen using sucker minnows catching some nice walleye. Others are casting stick baits mainly during low light conditions. Snow and cold is on its way this week. Grouse hunting has been fair with not much pressure as most target the month of October. Woodcock have moved on as they fly south. Light bow hunting activity with reports of the deer herd improving slowly. Bucks are definitely on the move starting to chase does and making scrapes. Cold, snow, bucks chasing, and the rut almost here has rifle hunters excited for the up coming opener on Nov. 15th. Ice fishermen are always excited for the approaching season. Remember the big lake ice will not freeze the same all over, as they begin fishing the bays the main lake ice may shift about before freezing again. BE SAFE!!!!! Check locally anytime before heading out. Due to these rapidly changing conditions at this time of year I will not be writing reports again until about Christmas time when we can expect safe travel about the lake with weather permitting. Be safe out there! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic fall report has improved. Shore anglers are reporting some nice catches of walleye using minnows while others have had good success trolling stick baits over the mud. Good numbers of northern pike are also in the mix. Cold windy weather with snow mixed in continues to hamper those out on the water. Recent snow has brought down most of the leaves now and better reports coming in from grouse hunters in the area. Woodcock numbers have been up with flight birds passing thru and many hunters getting a limit. Best of luck in the woods and on the water. Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic report has not changed. Fishing continues to be slow. Anglers are mainly working jig and minnow combos now or minnows below slip bobbers targeting walleye. Constant rain and bad weather continues day after day with 4 inches in the last few days. This has made it tough for both fishermen and grouse hunters. The fall colors are at about peak right now. Lake Gogebic early fall fishing report has been very slow. The few anglers that have been out continue to struggle. Most are using jig and minnow combos now and some are trolling or casting stick baits. The best reports are coming from weeds and weed edges during low light conditions. Some continue to search for perch in the weeds using night crawlers. Water temps have dropped to the low 50`s and fall colors are at 50%. Grouse hunters are reporting low flush rates and a lot of leaves on the trees yet. Best of luck to all! Barry (bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic reports light angler activity. Some nice perch continue to come from the weeds using crawlers. Walleye has been up and down with reports on fish hitting crawlers drifting or trolling the mud flats , casting and trolling stick baits over the mud and near shore, while others are pitching sucker minnows in the weeds and near break lines. Smallmouth are hitting sucker minnows near the same breaks. Cooler temps have arrived again with fall color coming on quickly. Lake Gogebic report has been slow overall. Mainly the walleye bite. Perch anglers are picking up fish on crawlers working the weeds from 8ft. to 11ft. Smallmouth are picking up quickly and providing some good action. This is that transition time of year for bait as anglers continue to use crawlers and leeches along with minnows coming into the picture as well. Bear hunting is now underway with good success and fair weather for the hunters. Best of luck in the woods and on the water! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic fishing is on the upswing this week. Anglers reporting better catches of perch using crawlers in the weeds and even some coming from those trolling the mud flats. The walleye bite has improved as well using leeches in the weeds and weed edges and trolling crawlers over the mud. Minnows will begin to be part of anglers tactics with temps beginning to cool down at night with lows in the 40`s and 50`s bringing the water temp down. Reminder, the Lake Gogebic Area Chamber of Commerce annual fall walleye fishing tournament will be held Sept. 7th and 8th. Best of luck to all! Have a safe holiday weekend. Lake Gogebic report is slow this week . Overall more of a storm report. Heavy rain and storms have caused flooding in many areas with lake levels rising quickly causing lots of floating debris, so be careful. The high turbid water has not helped the fishing. A few nice walleye coming from anglers working boards over the main lake basin with a few coming from 20ft. depths using leeches. A few smallmouth are hitting in hard bottom rocky areas as they begin to feed on crayfish. Perch has been slow with crawlers in the weeds working best, but the weeds are still a bit behind for this time of year. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic report is fair. Anglers are struggling as the bite has been very fickle. We finally got rid of the east wind which could bring back more of a stable pattern. Leeches have been working best for walleye with most targeting 16ft. to 20ft. but most are running small. Smallmouth continue to provide fair action near hard bottom areas and some nice perch beginning to come from the weeds in 9ft. to 13ft. using crawlers. Best of luck! They continue to work crawlers, minnows and leeches as the weather has been cold, hot, windy, and calm all in the same week! Smallmouth are still hanging on near shore for some added action. Perch has been a bit better with the weeds beginning to show up, but most are still scattered. Crawlers have been working the best for the perch. Lake Gogebic walleye report has been very slow this week. Wide temp swings and changing weather fronts have kept anglers searching for them. Some are still using minnows as others have found leeches and crawlers are coming into play quickly with the warming water temps. Smallmouth bass however has been fantastic with fish moving up onto the beds and providing great action. Jigs, twister tails, stick baits , live bait and flies have all been taking fish. Cooler temps today may push them back a bit but this will only prolong the spawn and make for extended good fishing for them. We have only seen a few perch come in using crawlers and leeches but no set pattern yet. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic report has been up and down since the opener. Some great catches of walleye one day and not so good the next. May be due to the wind direction that kept changing all week. Anglers are working jig and minnows or leeches in 15 to 18ft. Also 6 to 12 ft. during low light conditions. Northerns are hitting minnows on a regular basis but most are running small. A few nice perch but they seem to be widely dispersed as far as depth. Warm temps should keep bringing water temps up to bring the smallies into shore soon for the up coming bass opener on sat. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic opener was record setting! Not more than a week ago there was ice on the lake yet! Opening day was 70 degrees and sunny with light winds. Walleye action was great! Most anglers doing well were working 12ft. to 18ft. using jig and minnow combos, fuzzy grubs, and twister tails. These depths were producing lots of fish in the 16 inch to 19 inch range while shallower depths seen a few more throw backs with more of the smaller males. Reports of a lot of small northern pike and some very nice catch and release smallmouth. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic ice update. We are still in winter mode with 20 to 24 inches of ice. Snowmobile travel only with recent heavy snow expect 2 feet or more of snow on the ice. Mild daytime temps are forecast to be 40 to 50 degrees so expect slush and wet snow conditions. Shorelines are holding up well but still use caution near any inlets and remember conditions can change quickly! If not we may be ice fishing for the opener! Lake Gogebic ice conditions are holding up well with reports of some nice perch hitting the ice. Expect 20 to 24 inches of ice with snow cover on top. With mid day temps in the 20`s and lows in the single digits which should keep conditions stable. If temps warm into the 30`s to 40 during the day expect wet conditions from the remaining snow cover. Perch anglers are working 26ft. to 29ft. with some very good reports and a few slow reports mixed in using wigglers and spikes. Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic ice report and travel conditions are good. Current night temps are dipping into the teens making travel in the mornings very good. If we begin to see warmer temps during the day conditions may get wet and slushy by late day as there is a lot of snow on the ice yet. Walleye season is now closed, but anglers continue to target the Perch working wigglers in 23ft. to 29ft. over the mud. Success continues to be fair overall with some slow reports and some good reports. We have seen some very nice jumbo`s on the ice but not consistent. As late ice conditions can change quickly please be safe and also check locally where you are heading out. Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic report has improved slowly this week. The past few weeks anglers that did locate fish found it hard to get them to do anything but bump the bait. Early this week seen a few better reports coming in mainly for the perch everyone has been waiting for. Anglers working wigglers and spikes in 25ft. to 29ft. are seeing some better action, but it is spotty. Walleye continue to provide some action using sucker minnows and jigging baits working 16ft. to 20ft. and also in the same 25ft. to 29ft. that the perch anglers are working. Lake conditions are good using snowmobile. Recent heavy snow will cause some difficult travel in areas for those using ATV`s. Weather forecast shows highs in the 30`s with lows in the teens. Expect that conditions may be nice and firm in the mornings and soft to wet conditions by the afternoon. Best of luck to all! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic report has improved some this past week. Walleye anglers are reporting better catches. The 10ft. to 16ft. depths during low light are producing on sucker minnows using tip ups. Others jigging rapalas and spoons. Some walleye action in 24ft. to 28ft. while anglers search for Perch. Perch action continues to be slow overall with only a few good reports using wigglers. Lake Gogebic report remains slow to fair at best. Walleye seem to be getting the best reports but still slow with a lot of bumps and misses. Perch action has been quiet as well with reports of raising fish but difficulty in getting them to bite. Walleye anglers are fishing 10ft. to 16ft. during low light conditions and working the deeper water in 23ft. to 30ft. using sucker minnows and jigging raps. Some have downsized the minnows to fatheads trying to prevent the numbers of fish dragging out 3 to 4ft. of line on the tip-ups and dropping the bait. Perch anglers working the mud in 20ft. to 24ft. and 27ft. to 30ft. marking fish but few takers. Wigglers and spikes have been the preferred bait. Mild temps had anglers reporting slush near the end of the day but conditions firmed up at night. More snow is on its way today and Tue. With cooler temps. Best of luck! Lake Gogebic report has been up and down this past week with an overall report of fair. When temps warmed up we had some good reports on walleye in 16ft. to 18ft. and also in 23ft. to 26ft. using suckers and fatheads. Perch report has been slow to fair with hit and miss catches. Anglers using wigglers and spikes have been marking fish in 23ft. to 25ft. with mostly lookers and a few nice perch coming in. Snow and cold has once again moved in with lake travel best by snowmobile. ATV travel will be limited to hard packed areas in some places, but not recommended. Lake Gogebic report has been cold! Brrrrr! Bitter cold temps have not kept anglers off the ice. Overall the bite has been slow with anglers reporting lookers, not takers and light bites. Anglers have now been working the deep mud flats in the lake for perch and walleye using wigglers and sucker minnows. Others continue to work shallow depths mainly for walleye and northern with low light periods being best for the walleye. Lake travel has been good for ATV`s in most areas of the lake and snowmobiles having no problems at all. Expect some slush in pockets and bumpy travel in areas that machines passed over and slush froze up quickly with the cold temps. The weekend forecast shows some more tolerable temps. Best of luck! Lake Gogebic report has been fair for shore anglers using sucker minnows for walleye. Activity has been very light as most are concentrating on deer hunting right now. Happy hunters are enjoying good snow cover across the Gogebic range and improved deer numbers over last year. Todays rifle opener is a bit milder with snow melting, but good cover still remains. Early ice may not be too far off if weather conditions return to winter like temps. Remember to be safe as early ice can be very unpredictable!!! Please check locally in areas you may be heading out. My regular reports will resume near the end of December when we should have safe ice travel throughout the lake. Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Crawlers and leeches are still getting the best results. Warm temps way above average are still in the forecast for the upcoming week! We are into the second week of bear season with good reports despite the hot weather. Grouse season opened on the 15th with hunters and grouse both in low numbers. We have been seeing a few more young birds out there than we did last year so that is a good sign. Lake Gogebic report is fair this week. Fishing has improved over last week with anglers having some good days and some slow. Trolling stick baits and night crawler harness near shore and over the mud have been producing. Leeches worked in the weeds and weed edges have produced some nice walleye and perch. Northern pike and smallies have been fairly active as well. The crawler bite has picked up and some mayflies have begun to hatch. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic fishing has been a tough one this week. Anglers producing some walleye, but very spotty with a very light bite. Frequent storm fronts were definitely a factor. Weeds are up nicely in 6ft. to 8ft. with anglers using leeches while others working 15ft. to 18ft. producing some fish. Smallmouth action has tapered off while the perch bite is improving using crawlers. Good luck out there and be safe. Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic reports are fair to good. Early in the week was not as good but some very good reports coming in now. Weeds are up in 6ft. to 9ft. and anglers targeting Walleye with leeches have been doing well. Others fishing 15ft. to 17ft. are also reporting success. Perch action is picking up with some nice 14 inchers coming in. Smallmouth Bass action has been fantastic this week with fish moving on to the beds. Soft plastics twister tails and stick baits have all been producing. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic fishing has been fair this week. Some ups and downs with the weather being a factor once again. Jig and minnow and leeches have been working best for Walleye in 15ft. to 20ft. Smallmouth bass are beginning to move up to beds near shore. Anglers using twister tails and stick baits are beginning to catch fish working the shorelines. Best of luck! Lake Gogebic fishing remains fair to good. Last weeks heavy rain and wind, severe storms slowed the bite for a few days, but has now began to turn around. Caution of high water levels that may still have some debris floating in the lake, watch for logs boards ect… that may have floated loose from shore. Sat. May 27th. Marks the opener for smallmouth bass fishing, however not a lot of catch and release on bass yet this season being reported as water temps are still to cold for them to move in to spawn. Perch action has also been slow with most anglers concentrating on Walleye and Pike. Jig and a minnow has still been the most popular with good catches also coming in on leeches. Anglers are working 16ft. to 22ft. with some moving in to less than 10ft. during low light conditions. Have a happy and safe holiday weekend! Welcome back! Lake Gogebic fishing opener was a great one fishing wise! Weather was cold windy and rain! The rain continues to hang on but temps have warmed up. Fishing was fantastic with lots of Walleye between 15 inches to 18 inches not many that you had to measure. Drifting with a jig and minnow was very popular over the main lake with good reports coming from 15ft. to 18 ft. Low light conditions showed a good bite in shallow water and for shore anglers. Some great reports came in from anglers using leeches also. Good luck out there! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic ice conditions have deteriorated quickly. ATV travel was good in the mornings over the weekend but was poor by evening. Water began to pool on the surface which will honeycomb the ice quickly. Many shoreline areas are deteriorated as well. Light rain has also been a factor. Ice travel is NOT!! Recommended!!!! It was a great ice fishing season overall and we hope to see you all for the May 15th Walleye opener. Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic report remains good. Perch action has been good using wigglers and spikes in 22ft. to 27ft. Ice conditions and travel are currently good using ATV`s or snowmobile. No snow on the ice. Always check locally before heading out as conditions can change very quickly at this time of year. Reports are of angler activity and not ice safety!!! Lake Gogebic walleye season ended yesterday March 15th with a fantastic finish!! Many happy anglers iced lots of nice fish! Perch action has also improved greatly! It`s Jumbo perch time! Anglers are working 22ft. to 30ft. with good action using Wigglers, spikes and small minnows. Ice conditions are great with ATV and snowmobile both being used. Ice depth has actually increased some this past week with below zero and single digit lows at night. Watch the weather but expect the conditions to last a while yet. Use caution near any inlets to the lake as earlier thaws have deteriorated ice near shore in these areas. As always late ice conditions can change quickly so always check locally in the areas you may be heading out. Be safe and good luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic fishing report has not changed much. Anglers continue to work 20ft. to 30ft. depths for both perch and walleye. Sucker minnows on tip ups have been producing the best for walleye with a fair report. Wigglers and spikes have been best for perch with very slow reports. Some working 10ft. to 13ft. for walleyes have reported fair results during low light conditions. Ice conditions remain very good with average of 15 to 18 inches of ice. ATV travel is possible in some areas but not all over, snowmobile would be best. Reminder to use extreme caution near shore line areas as all of the creek, stream, and rivers have been flowing in for weeks. Stay away from those areas. Best of luck and be safe. Lake Gogebic fishing report has been very slow this week with only a few good reports. Main lake conditions are good with average of 20 inches of ice. The meltdown has allowed ATV travel once again on most areas of the lake. There are some locations that have deep slush on top yet. Use extreme caution near shore line areas that have creeks, rivers and streams flowing in as all of the runoff has created open water near these locations. Colder temps are forecast starting Thur. with snow coming Thrurs , Fri and Sat Best of Luck! and be safe. Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic fishing has improved to fair. Walleye and perch continue to be picked up in 24ft. to 30ft. Reports have not been the best but have improved over the ;last week. Ice is good, but snow melting now is causing slush on top. Mild temps are forecast for the next 5 days so expect conditions to get wet and sloppy. Best of luck! Lake Gogebic report has been slow. The great bite we had has come and gone. Most anglers reporting a tough bite with most fish marked are only lookers. A few fish are still coming in but they have been biting very light. Both perch and walleye action has still been best in 24ft. to 28ft. over the mud . low light anglers working 8ft. to 12ft. have also reported some action. Recent heavy snow has once again stopped any ATV travel so snowmobile is best. Good luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic fishing has been fantastic! Walleye action has been hot! Anglers working 22ft. to 26ft. having great success using sucker minnows and jigging rapalas or spoons. Perch action has been fair using wigglers and spikes in the same areas. Lake conditions are good with about 2 to 6 inches of slush in some areas. Travel has been good using snowmobiles and the mild temps have even made ATV travel good once again. Temps are forecast to cool down by Wed. and chance of snow every day after thru the weekend. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic report has been great. Some good reports on walleye in 10ft. to 12ft. using sucker minnows. Others still working 20ft. to 26ft. depths for both perch and walleye with good success using suckers and jigging rapalas. Perch are hitting wigglers and spikes in the same depths.Weather has been fantastic for fishing with mild temps. Lake travel is still best with snowmobiles as slush will be a factor due to the mild weather predicted thru the weekend. Best of luck Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic report has remained about the same. Fair to good catches of both walleye and perch coming from 20ft. to 26ft. Cold below zero temps have returned this week once again. The bite seemed to hold out pretty well thru our last cold snap so hope it does once again! Heavy snow here the last three days will limit travel to snowmobiles only. Best of luck! Lake Gogebic conditions are good overall. With 10 inches plus of ice all over the lake. Anglers are using atv`s and snowmobiles. There are parts of the lake that have slush under the snow and atv travel will be difficult. Snowmobiles will be best. The bite has slowed up in the 10ft. areas with most action coming during low light conditions. Most anglers are moving deeper with good success in 20ft. to 24ft. using wigglers for perch and sucker minnows and rapalas for the walleye. A cold front with snow began moving in yesterday with a low of 10 below by tomorrow with anglers currently reporting a very tough bite. Marking fish but they are being very fickle. Best of luck! Lake Gogebic fishing has been great. A bit of a slow down when temps dipped into the teens after the 35 degree weather but expect it to respond back quickly with stable temps once again. Ice conditions vary with 8 to 12 inches in the bays and 6 to 10 inches on the main lake. Slush has mostly turned to ice with the colder temps so areas are icy. Some slushy areas have frozen over but you may break thru the top layer in some areas. Walleye bite has been fantastic in 7 to 11 feet using sucker minnows and jigging raps. Some perch have been picked up in the same areas in the bays with anglers beginning to fish the mud flats. Not a lot of perch reports yet in those areas. Anglers are using wigglers and spikes. Best of luck and have a happy new year! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic fishing activity has been light but some good reports. Ice conditions have been fair with not a lot of snow on top yet. Ice reports are from 5 inches to 8 inches in most areas. We have not seen a lot of travel out there yet but expect that to change in a few days as holiday anglers and snowmobilers arrive in the area. Walleye reports have been in 4ft. to 10ft. and 14ft. to 18ft using sucker minnows and jigging rapalas. No reports on perch yet. Have a happy and safe holiday! Lake Gogebic Perch action has been fantastic! Jumbo`s by the bucket! Using crawlers in 7 to 9ft. and also deep mud 25 to 30ft. Walleye action has been good with still most action from undersize fish . Some nice sized eyes are being caught just not constant. Many are already using minnows with excellent luck! Smallmouth continue to produce as well near hard bottom areas. One cold front this week slowed things up for a bit , but more stable weather is forecast. Best of luck! Lake Gogebic report has improved. Nice Jumbo perch are hitting crawlers in 25ft. to 30ft. Also from the weeds in 8ft. to 9ft. Walleye action has been very good with the exception that many are under size. Have also seen some nice size Walleye as well but a bit more hit and miss. Some are using minnows in 25ft. to 30ft. Leeches are also working well in the same depths and working weed edges. Smallmouth have been active in hard bottom areas feeding on crayfish. Most all are catching fish! Best of luck! Lake Gogebic smallmouth continue to be hitting the best in hard bottom and rocky areas using crawlers. Perch action continues to be slow. Walleye are hitting leeches in 18 to 23 ft. Over all fishing has been poor with each week the bite begins to improve for a few days and another front moves thru and shuts things off again. It appears more seasonal temps are in the forecast. Lake Gogebic fishing continues to be very slow. No stable weather has been part of the reason, as we see warm to cold with winds and rain ect… Smallmouth have been giving up most of the action with anglers fishing hard bottom rocky areas as they are feeding on crayfish. Perch anglers are pulling a few nice fish from 12 to 16ft. near the edges of the mud. Walleye are hitting leeches and crawlers fished near the weeds and in the mud but limited success. Good luck.
