FISHING REPORTS:

Lake Gogebic fishing was a bit on the slow side this week. Again nothing has changed as far as summer tactics, but the fish are just not real aggressive. Some nice jumbo perch are still being caught and the Walleye are at least over that 15 inch size limit! Enjoy the great weather and see you all on the water!

Lake Gogebic fishing has been on par this past week for this time of year. The bite did slow down from the above normal action the week before. Nice Perch are still biting on crawlers in 8-12ft. and Walleye continue to hit Leeches and Crawlers with some Smallmouth action mixed in for some added excitement. The weather has been nice and visitors are really enjoying the summer this year! Best of luck!

Lake Gogebic fishing has been awesome!! Jumbo Perch have been much more cooperative and biting on nightcrawlers. Smallmouth Bass are very active in the weedbeds and also hitting crawlers.Walleyes continue to give up some nice fish in the main lake basin or mudflats. The weedbeds and weed edges are second to none for producing steady action for those eyes using both crawlers and leeches. Despite a slow start this season Gogebic is producing the nicest, healthy, quality, Walleyes I have seen in years! The numbers are great with the BEST ratio of keepers to throw backs I have seen in a long time! Have a great time.

Lake Gogebic fishing remains fair with little changes and most anglers seeing some action. Some very nice perch continue to come from the weed beds using crawlers. We did see more insect hatches last night, but Walleye are still biting crawlers in the mud along with morning and evening bites on leeches in the weeds. Smallmouth have filled in the slow times providing action near fish cribs and rocky areas. This may continue to sound repetitive, but summer patterns are here to stay. Best of luck!

Lake Gogebic fishing is slowly picking up again. Some real nice Walleye have been taken in the main lake basin 20 – 26ft using vertical jigs or nightcrawler harnesses. The weed beds have produced some good action using leeches below slip bobbers. Most anglers are now having some action so best of luck and have a happy and safe holiday!

Lake Gogebic fishing continues to be very slow. Recent bug hatches this past week and more heavy rain has hampered fishing. Some anglers are seeing some improvement while fishing for bass and northern but walleye action has been limited. The best we can hope for is time will correct what mother nature has dealt us. Water levels are improving on a positive note and the fish will get hungry again! Best of luck and keep fishin!

Lake Gogebic fishing has slowed up a bit this week. The smallmouth are nearing the end of the spawn and beginning to move out from the shorelines. Some nice perch have been caught, but not any numbers. Continued rain and fronts moving thru have the Walleye bite on a roller coaster ride. The same tactics and locations will continue to work as we are well into the summer patterns. This week also seen more may flies hatch along with fishflies so mother nature continues to provide ample food sources. Best of luck and keep fishin! Happy Fathers Day! And maybe take dad out on the water!

Lake Gogebic Smallmouth action is still HOT! Awesome numbers of fish being boated with everything from soft plastics to cranks in 3 to 12 ft. A few cold front days and some rain did slow the Walleye bite up some. Best action has come from 8 to 11 ft on weed edges using leeches. Crawler harness drifted or trolled on the mud flats have produced also. A good number of fish are suspended for those board anglers as we had a very good Mayfly hatch this week. Reminder that the Lake Gogebic Area Chamber of Commerce Anglers and Young Anglers fishing tournament is this Sat. June 12. Visit the Chamber at www.lakegogebicarea.com for more info. Also Sat. and Sun. June 12 and 13 is Michigans FREE fishing weekend!!!!!! Enjoy and take a kid fishin!

Lake Gogebic fishing has been great!!!! We finally turned the page! Smallmouth bass is now open and anglers are having a blast working small crankbaits or plastics in 4-8ft of water. Wallleye action has been hot using leeches in 7-11ft. and also working crawler harnesses in 24-27ft. Best of luck and keep fishin!

Lake Gogebics report has not changed much. Despite tough fishing the Lake Gogebic Area Chamber of Commerce Spring Tournament produced some nice fish! The first place fish was 24.5” on down to tenth place at 18.75” for Walleye, and a 38.5 inch Northern was also a bonus fish brought in! The Chamber thanks you all for participating and keeping it a fun event! The Walleye bite has remained slow, but perch action has picked up with some real nice fish being caught in 5-8ft. Some really nice Smallmouth have been caught and released with anglers looking forward to the May 29th bass opener. Temps are cooling off into the 70’s and a few clouds with showers expected today before it clears up again for later in the week. Keep fishin and best of luck!

Lake Gogebic`s opening weeks weather was the hot topic with summertime temps near 80 and more in the forcast. Anglers needed something to praise as fishing is very slow. The fish are scattered to many summer locations already and are not very aggressive.Vertical jigging or drifting the main lake basin with sucker minnows has produced along with shallow weeds in 7-8 ft using leeches. Smallmouth Bass are beginning to move shallow, but the season is not open yet.

Lake Gogebic Opener is upon us!!!! Welcome back for another great fishing season! The May 15th opener on Sat. looks to be fair weather in the 60’s. Mother nature has dealt us many curve balls in the past, but with the early ice out it may be anyones guess as to the Walleye patterns? Expect most anglers to use the traditional sucker minnow and a jig combo drifting the bottom or working the deep edges along the rocky shorelines. However with the early spring and water temps rising many anglers will also be using crawlers and leeches to target those Walleyes as well. With the season well under way, don’t forget the shallower edges and slowly emerging weed growth that will be attracting fish. Reminder to all about the Lake Gogebic Chamber of Commerce Spring Walleye Tournament scheduled for May 22 and 23.Call the Chamber at 1-888-464-3242 or see www.lakegogebicarea.com for more info. Best of luck to all!

Lake Gogebics Ice update. Remember these reports DO NOT indicate ice safety, but report on angler activity only. Ice conditions vary as they did at the start of the season with reports from 6-12 inches of good ice with a soft layer on top.Cool nights have firmed up the surface providing good travel until the surface warms up. Some anglers continue to use ATV`s and snowmobiles, however I would NOT recommend that anymore this season . Foot travel would be best if you care to venture out. Most shorelines are away from shore, but some locations are allowing anglers access yet. The Perch bite continues very spotty with only a few good reports. This report will not be updated for another week and conditions can change quickly! Always check locally at the location you will be accessing for current conditions.

Lake Gogebics ice travel is ok as of now. Conditions can change quickly!!!!!!!! Some shorelines are bad, but anglers are accessing with snowmobiles and atv`s in some locations. ALWAYS! Check locally before heading out anywhere at this time. Minimum of 8inches of good ice with 4-6 inches of soft ice on top is reported. Some atv`s had some difficulty with the soft surface yesterday 3-18. It is now cloudy and cool, with the forcast for cool temps. Do not expect conditions to last much longer. The bite has been slow with only a few good reports. Best action continues in 24-27 feet on the edge of the mud flats. Be safe and best of luck!

Lake Gogebics ice conditions are great! Despite warm temps, travel is good. Both snowmobile and atv`s are being used. Most slush and water has drained off the ice and shorelines are still firm. Expect 18-20 inches of ice. Perch activity is still hit and miss with a few good reports, but very few anglers are out. Most are staying on the move to locate active fish. Gamefish season is now closed so perch will be the primary target as long as the ice stays with us. As always please check locally anywhere you are planning to venture onto the ice as conditions change quickly this time of year!!!!!! Be safe and best of luck!
