FISHING REPORTS:

Lake Gogebic fishing has been tough. Anglers on and off are catching large numbers of undersize fish making it very frustrating for most. Weather and wind direction continues to change constantly causing the on and off again bite. Fish are still hitting crawlers, leeches and minnows in 8 to 14ft. Trolling and drifting in 20 to 23ft. has been producing a few more keeper size fish. Bass are on and off as well near the shorelines due to weather. Perch have been good size mostly over the mud in over 20ft, but are also very inconsistent. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic weather is more seasonal for June and the fishing is slowly improving. Fair at best with walleye beginning to hit crawlers and leeches over the minnows as far as bait. Weed edges are coming up nicely. Action in the 9 to 12 ft.depths near structure and 22 to 26ft depths over mud are producing some larger keeper fish. Many are still catching a lot of undersize Walleye. Smallmouth are slowly improving and moving in towards shore with the warmer temps. Use crank baits, spinners or twister tails near shore. Northern pike have continued to feed and provided action for most during the slow times, hitting nearly anything, but large minnows are best. Perch action remains very scattered with no definite pattern for now, some nice fish have been caught but hit and miss. Best of Luck!! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic report has changed very little. Fishing has still been on the slow side. Expect slush in most areas off the well traveled locations, a snowmobile is recommended. Some of the larger walleye have still been coming from reports in the 24 to 28ft. range using sucker minnows and jigging rapalas or spoons. A few more fish reported in the 9 to 12ft. range during low light conditions, but many are running small. Perch action has been more active on the vexilar than on the hook! Some nice fish are still being taken, however locating active fish has been key. Good locations are still in the 20 to 22ft range and also in the 24 to 27ft areas using wigglers. Sorry for the repeat, but March is here and the perch bite should improve in the near future.Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic fishing has been a bit slower and angler activity as well. Walleye action has been slow with a few nice fish still reported coming from deeper water in the 24 to 27ft range. Perch anglers are still locating good numbers of fish in the 22ft. range however coaxing them to bite has been a struggle for some. A few anglers are locating active fish and connecting with some nice jumbos , so keep moving! Lake conditions continue to add more snow, as a result expect slush in most of the un traveled areas of the lake beneath the snow! Good Luck! Lake Gogebic travel conditions are good, but snowmobile is recommended. Expect some areas with slush to deal with on top of 18 to 20 inches of ice on average. Some real nice walleye have come from the 20 to 24ft range but no big numbers. Perch action had slowed over the weekend with a front moving thru causing a good number of fish being marked or raised but not cooperative to bite! Today is a fine sunny winter day so we hope that bite will improve. Anglers are not having a problem locating fish mostly in the 20 to 22ft and 24 to 26ft range. Best of luck! Lake Gogebic fishing is still in a fair mid winter pattern. Some walleye action continues in the 7 to 11 ft. range and again in the 24 to 28ft. depths with both areas producing on sucker minnows and jigging baits during low light conditions. Perch action has been above average with nice catches of jumbos on wigglers in 20 to 22ft. and also 24 to 26ft. depths. Lake conditions are snowmobile recommended with plenty of snow and areas of slush due to the heavy snow on top. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic fishing has been fair. Expect stable mid winter patterns and a fair bite. Lake conditions include lots of snow, snowmobile travel is best, watch for slush and several ice heaves on the lake. Jumbo perch action has been good in the 22 to 26ft depths using wigglers over the mud right on bottom. Walleye continue to produce best during low light conditions from 9 to 18ft. jigging rapalas and using sucker minnows on tip ups. Anglers are reporting some good fish yet, but are seeing more action from the short walleye, so have fun! Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic fishing has been a bit slower this past week, mostly due to less fishermen out on the ice resulting in less reporting. Currently below zero temps are keeping anglers inside. Temps will warm up as the week moves on. Lake conditions now include snow!! Expect snowmobile travel to be good but ATV travel may be limited in some areas as snow drifts and some slush will be found. Caution near several ice heaves on the lake. Perch anglers are still getting some nice fish!! Using wigglers fished in 22 to 26ft. Walleye anglers been producing a few nice fish in the 25 to 29ft range, but most action still coming from 7 to 11ft. during low light conditions. Walleye are hitting sucker minnows and jigging rapalas. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic fishing report is still good but conditions have changed. Expect walleye and perch activity to be about the same as previous. Walleye in 7 to 10 ft. and also out in 24 to 27ft range. Some perch are hitting in the weeds but also out in 20 plus ft. depths. Mild temps melted down the snow and caused some wet conditions for a few days. Now colder temps have firmed things up again, but the lake is very slick! Hardly no snow cover, so bring your creepers!! Best of luck. Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic anglers continue to do well! Ice conditions and travel are still good. Expect some slush in areas, but not bad overall. Great reports continue to come from 7 to 10ft. of water for both walleye and some giant perch! Anglers fishing deep water in the 20 to 24ft. range and the 24 to 29ft. range are doing well on both also. Professional fisherman Mark Martin was here this past week conducting an ice fishing vacation school which hosted outdoor writers and tv personnel to make for an exciting time here on Lake Gogebic! A great time was had by all and fishing was great as well! Thank you to all that participated in any way! Best of luck and see you on the ice!!! Lake Gogebic anglers are still doing well and are beginning to spread out on the lake. Many fishing the bays in 6 to 10 ft. are still doing well on walleye mostly during low light conditions. Others have began to fish deeper water 24 to 30 ft. and are also having success. Tip ups with sucker minnows and jigging rapalas are working the best. Perch anglers are also having some nice results in water 20ft and deeper using wigglers and spikes moving around in the mud of the main lake basin. Ice travel is still good with both snowmobile and 4 wheelers, expect some slush in areas but overall things are good! Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Welcome back to Lake Gogebic cold weather reports! Anglers have been fishing the bays for several weeks now with good reports. Nice keeper size walleye in the 19 inch range have been common using tip-ups with sucker minnows and jigging rapalas mostly during low light conditions. Even some jumbo perch have been in the mix! Ice conditions are good. Expect 6 to 8 inches on the bays and main lake travel is good as well. Expect 5 to7 inches on the main lake with 4 to 12 inches of snow on top. Snowmobile and atv travel are both good. Be cautious as ice conditions can still vary by area and check locally before heading out! Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas Holiday!!! Lake Gogebic fishing has been very quiet. Only a few shore anglers using sucker minnows and casting rapalas. They have been catching some nice size walleye mostly evenings and at night. Deer hunting is under way with good numbers of deer this year and bucks still chasing does. Weather is a bit mild and the snow has melted for the opener. Ice fishing season will be quickly approaching. As ice forms on the bays please use caution and check locally at your destination before venturing out. Early ice is very unpredictable, and because of Lake Gogebics size it can change quickly. Because of this early ice reports are not a safe idea. Expect more reports as Ice conditions are more stable and travel is good typically near the Christmas holiday time. Please be safe!!!! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic angler activity has been very light and so have the fishing reports. The most action has been from shore anglers casting rapalas or using sucker minnows during low light conditions and at night. Keeper fish have been in the 20 inch plus range so that is a plus! Grouse activity has picked up again as some of the hunting pressure has let up and birds have returned to a more normal pattern. Bow hunting has been good with fair numbers of deer once again. Bear season has closed as of the 26th. Best of luck in the woods and on the water. Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort.

Lake Gogebic Walleye fishing has been slow. Few keeper size fish, most action on sucker minnows has been small fish. Some reports casting stick baits near shore have found some keeper fish. Smallmouth action still tops the list with many fish over 20 inches using sucker minnows near hard bottom areas, points, and weed edges. Bear hunting has been slow with little activity. Bow hunters are seeing an increase in deer numbers this season. Grouse hunting has been very good, but weather dependant on bird sightings. We have had colder temps with snow cover on the ground (come and go) along with high winds. Most hunters are putting up good numbers of birds, but finding some areas void of birds while the next stop produces well! Best of luck in the woods and on the water! Lake Gogebic weather has been great, but fishing reports are mixed. Most anglers are catching fish, but mostly undersized. A few good reports on Walleye and Smallmouth using suckers and casting crank baits near shore and around weeds. Shore anglers are reporting some better fishing during low light conditions. That is a good indicator for the fall bite as the Walleye are moving in to feed. Jumbo Perch have been hitting crawlers and even the large sucker minnows while fishing in the weed beds. The coming weekend is forecasting colder, nastier weather, but this may help the larger fish to begin feeding more aggressive. Think positive! Fall colors are nearing end as most of the leaves have come down the past few days. Grouse hunters are seeing a few more birds, with most activity during afternoons and evenings. Best of luck in the woods and on the water! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic fishing has been very good! Walleye, Smallmouth and Northern have been very active in the weed edges near 10 to 12ft. using sucker minnows. Perch have been a bit slower, but still some nice fish coming in the weeds using crawlers. Continue to work the hard bottom points and edges for both Smallmouth and Walleye also. Fall colors in the area are near 70 to 80%. Enjoy the great outdoors this fall! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic fishing has been slow the last few days. Cold weather fronts with rain, wind, and thunder storms continue to upset the fishing. Forecast for the remainder of the week is for the same. Perch action has been slow. A few nice walleye trolling crank baits near shoreline structure during low light periods and anglers using a jig tipped with sucker minnows are doing the best. Smallmouth have been active near any hard bottom areas of sand or rock near points and drop offs from 5 to 14ft. using sucker minnows. Bear and bird season are both underway. Grouse activity has been increasing with sightings of more birds recently. The fall colors are near 40% in the area so enjoy! Best of luck in the woods and on the water! Lake Gogebic fishing has been good! Walleye anglers continue to catch nice eyes in the 20 inch class. Crawler harness and vertical jigging in the 21 to 25ft. range are doing well. Sucker minnows are in the picture now for live bait fished in the mud flats or near weeds and weed edges. Smallmouth are hitting the minnows as well along with casting crank baits. Perch and northern are most active in the weeds, crawlers for perch and minnows for northern. Fall is here and colors are changing! Lets get ready for some great fall fishing! Good Luck. Lake Gogebic fishing has improved. Nice weather and nice fishing over the holiday weekend! Anglers continue to catch nice Walleye in the 24 to 27ft. tight to bottom. Crawlers and minnows are live bait choices now. Perch and Smallmouth are still keeping active in the weeds while chasing those weed Walleye. Best of luck! Lake Gogebic fishing has been slow. Not many anglers out on the water either. Perch continue to give the most action along with smallmouth bass. Both are being caught in the weed beds using crawlers and leeches. The smallmouth are also hitting artificial baits near shore and hard bottom areas. Walleye reports are wide ranging from depths of 22 to 26ft using crawlers and crank baits to weed edges using leeches and crawlers in 10 to 12ft. We are at the change of seasons here on Gogebic with the bite slowly turning to minnows as anglers try to find what the fish like best from day to day. Best of luck and stay flexible with your tactics. Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361 Reminder!!! Lake Gogebic report has been slower this week with not as many great days on the water. Smallmouth Bass action continues to be very active along shorelines and points with hard bottom using both live and artificial baits. The Perch bite has slowed up and is more hit and miss with both good and bad days. Walleye continue to be inconsistent as well, with the best reports using crawler harnesses in 21 to 26ft. depths or crank baits. Leeches fished near weed edges and on bottom in the deeper water are also producing a few nice catches.Best of luck to all! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic perch fishing continues to be fantastic! This week has seen a few slow days with some colder temps and wind that slowed the bite some, but seems to be picking back up again. Anglers are getting a lot of bites but not as many getting hooked. So down size your hook size a bit to overcome those fickle biters! Continue to fish the weeds in 7 to 10ft and also some on bottom in the mud around 26ft. Walleye anglers are seeing some great reports on crawler harnesses in 21 to 25ft. and also near weed edges using leeches. Artificial baits cast into the weeds are taking some nice pike and shoreline rocky areas are still producing some great smallmouth action on twister tails and leeches. Best of luck and great fishin! Lake Gogebic report has improved from last, but we have seen ups and downs from day to day this week. Limits of perch coming on crawlers in 8 to 10ft in the weeds and also from the mud in 25 to 27ft. Some nice Walleye have also been taken on leeches in these same areas. Smallmouth continue to be active near shoreline hard bottom areas and also near the weeds using live bait and artificial . Overall crawlers top the list as number one right now. Today and thur. thunder storms are forecast so this may upset fishing coming into the weekend. Best of luck to all! Lake Gogebic report has been fair. The perch bite has slowed up this week from what it was. Smallmouth continue to be very active in both the weeds and rocky hard bottom areas. Nightcrawlers have been working very good for both. Walleye action is still on the slow side with leeches and crawlers producing some nice fish on the deeper weed lines and trollers pulling long lines with cranks near shorelines in low light conditions Best of luck! Lake Gogebic perch action is still good. Fish the weeds from 7 to 10ft. using crawlers and leeches or 20 to 26ft in the mud using the same. Walleye reports are better with good action on leeches in the 24 to 26ft range and also trolling the 20 to 26ft with bottom bouncers and crawlers. Walleye reports are still day and night as many are not catching fish, but stay with the good reports above and maybe you will be happy too! Smallmouth action has increased for fisherman in the weeds with crawlers and leeches also, some real nice fish! Northerns seem to be hitting both live bait and just about any flashy bait you throw in the weeds and deeper weed edges. Most northerns are on the small side, but the kids love em! Best of luck and take a kid fishin this summer! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic perch fishing continues to be great! Anglers are catching a variety of sizes with jumbo`s in the 13 to 14 inch range putting smiles on a lot of faces! Submerged weeds in the 7 to 10 ft. range using night crawlers and leeches just off bottom. The walleye report could not be more opposite. Of course a few are in the right place at the right time and boating some fish, but over all it is very slow. The walleye bite has been very light with mixed reports on the fish being caught. Meaning a few are trolling , some drifting, and some on live bait with no consistent results. Have a happy and safe holiday week! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic update. Fishing has been very poor the last few days. Heavy thunder and lightning storms have traveled thru leaving over 4 inches of rain in the past few days. Lake levels are rising and the fishing has not been good. The bite has been very light for both perch and walleye so slow down and down size your baits if needed. The few anglers catching fish are very hit and miss but the size of walleye have been good running 16 to 20 inches on average! Small minnows have been working well along with the leeches and crawlers, so mix it up. Perch have been favoring the crawlers with jumbos also hitting leeches. Most perch have been running 10 to 14 inches! Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic fishing has been fair after a long period of a slow bite for the walleye. Trollers pulling crawler harness have been producing good fish over weeds and also in the 22 to 26ft range. Leeches have been working well on slip bobbers in both the same areas. Perch action has been above normal this season working the weeds and also the mud in the main lake basin on both crawlers and leeches. The perch have filled in the gaps for many who were not having any luck for the walleye. However the size of the walleye have been great, above average on size with not many throw backs! Best of luck to all! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic fishing has been up and down. Walleye action has been on the slow side with leeches and minnows producing for live bait and anglers trolling crank baits are also producing. The Northern and Smallmouth action has been good with weed areas attracting the pike and shoreline areas giving plenty of bass action on jigs, twisters, cranks, and live bait. Perch have been cooperating in the weeds using crawlers and leeches. Good Luck!

Good Luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic fishing has not been so good this past week. Mostly due to weather patterns. The wind has been blowing hard most days and also changing direction from day to day. The temps dropped from near 90 to 50 in about 4 hours! Not the best of conditions. Good news is more stable conditions are forecast into the weekend so that will help. Some have been doing well from shore using minnows mostly due to the waves crashing in. Pike and smallies are giving up some action when the walleye are being stubborn. Anglers are still fishing many locations from shallow to deep and also using a variety of bait both live and artificial. Minnows seem to be at the top of the list with leeches second. Good luck and have a safe holiday weekend! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic opener was very good with most anglers all catching fish! Fish are responding to leeches and minnows best and from a variety of depths. Anglers working jigs in as little as 3 to 4ft. out to 24ft. Some action has come on artificials and twister tails even from dock anglers. No shortage of under size walleye again this year with many reporting nice keeper size fish in the 18 to 19 inch range! Northern Pike and Smallmouth have also been active. Note bass season is not open yet. Jumbo Perch have been hitting crawlers and leeches.Good Luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebics walleye opener is quickly approaching tue. May 15th. Early ice out and above average temps have jumpstarted the seasons with early spawn and more of an early summer than the traditional opener weather. Expect anglers to be using a variety of tactics and fishing in areas not common this early in the season. Expect crawlers and leeches to be a big part of the mix along with the jig and minnow. Fish may be spread out due to early spawning so keep on the move to locate your active fish. Even the females should be feeding more aggressively by now, so good luck and we wish you all a great opener! REMINDER! Lake Gogebics Chamber of Commerce Walleye tournament will be May 19th and 20th. Visit www.lakegogebicarea.com or call 1-888-464-3242. Also anglers do not forget to purchase your tagged fish buttons at local businesses to qualify for the cash prizes up to 1000.00!!!! Good luck to all! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.
